FourPlay is a card game for couples at fourplay.me. It's run by Alfie Darko in the UK, who is the controller of your data under UK GDPR. This page explains what the game keeps about you and why. The short version: only what the game needs to work, no ads, no trackers, and nothing is ever sold.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address and the name your partner sees. If you sign up with an email, your password is stored hashed by our database provider. We never see it.
- If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture, which Google shares when you agree to it.
- Your connections: who you've connected with, and the invitations you send and accept.
- Your games: the cards dealt, the order you rank each card in, and when. While a card's timer is running, your current order is saved so it can be locked in if time runs out.
- On your device: a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in, and two small settings in your browser's storage: whether sound is muted, and which reveals you've already watched.
We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
Your answers are sensitive
Some cards ask about sex, relationships, jealousy and other personal things, so your rankings can reveal information about your sex life. UK GDPR treats that as special category data. We only process it because you choose to play, and only to run the game. You can stop playing and ask us to delete it at any time.
Who can see what
- Your partner sees your name and picture, and sees your order for a card only after you've both answered it.
- People you aren't connected with see nothing. Someone opening your invite link sees only your name until they accept.
- The person running FourPlay can view all accounts, connections, games and answers, to keep the game running, fix problems and improve the questions. This access isn't used for anything else.
Where it's stored
- Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in, in London.
- Vercel hosts the website, and may process requests outside the UK under standard data protection safeguards.
- Google handles sign-in only if you choose “Continue with Google”.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and games until you ask us to delete them. Email me@alfiedarko.co.uk from your account's address and we'll delete your account and everything linked to it within 30 days. Answers you gave in games with a partner are deleted too.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop us using it. Email me@alfiedarko.co.uk and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Adults only
FourPlay includes explicit content and is only for people aged 18 or over.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app.
